Founder’s Note
Esther Chibesa, Founder – Furaha Farms
At Furaha Farms, we believe the future of African agriculture can be regenerative, dignified, and deeply rooted in community. We’re building a climate-smart agricultural enterprise in Zambia—one that prioritizes sustainability, embraces innovation, and puts people first.
After 25 years in banking and financial services across several markets, I founded Furaha as an act of optimism—and of agency. It’s my commitment to grow a living enterprise that honours the land, creates decent jobs, and drives innovation across the agricultural value chain.
While we are a commercial enterprise, we also see Furaha as a place to test ideas, adapt solutions, and learn in real time. We want to serve as a practical testbed for regenerative approaches, off-grid technologies, and inclusive farming models that can work in African conditions.
The name Furaha means joy—and that’s what we aim to cultivate: in our work, in our products, in our community, and in the lives we touch.
We’re just getting started. But we’re building boldly—with a long view and a deep commitment to doing business in a way that’s good for people, nature, and the planet.
